Advanced course on river restoration and ecosystem services at UMinho

The students of the advanced course of River Restoration and Ecosystem Services of the University of Minho visited this Thursday, May 4th, the Laboratório da Paisagem, where they could know better the project REACTIvar Guimarães: Renaturalization of the Green Corridors of Ave, Selho and Vizela.

During the day, the various methodologies used in the project were presented, namely the natural engineering techniques proposed and the monitoring work in progress. The work on the survey of obstacles of Selho River was also presented, by Professor António Vieira. The Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan and the Ecovias dos Ave, Selho and Vizela were also discussed.

In the afternoon, there was a field trip to Selho River, near Laboratório da Paisagem, which had the purpose of challenging the students to do a work with proposals of river rehabilitation techniques to be applied in the respective stretch.
