Until Monday you are invited to take part in the City Nature Challenge 2023

The worldwide City Nature Challenge is back and promises a weekend full of discoveries. With several activities scheduled with schools and Green Brigades, the challenge launched by the Landscape Lab is also aimed at the community in general, to find as many wild species as possible.

All you need is a mobile phone or camera and set out to discover. On finding a species, participants should take a photo and submit it on the Biodiversity GO! mobile application, or send it by email to geral@labpaisagem.pt.

Over the last few years, the people of Guimarães have already contributed hundreds of sightings, allowing our researchers to map the different species, be it animal, plant, or other evidence of life.

In 2023, Guimarães will again be the only city representing Portugal, in a global challenge that includes hundreds of cities and where whoever registers the highest number of species wins.

The Guimarães programme includes, already this Friday, an activity with the Briteiros Schools Grouping. On Saturday, there will be another training session within the Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan, this time about amphibians and reptiles, and a BioBlitz with the Scouts and the community in the inauguration of the Selho S. Jorge – Pevidém Green Brigade.

Connect with nature and help increase the knowledge and database on biodiversity in Guimarães.
