Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan
The future Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan will be made with the participation of the Guimarães community. The challenge for the involvement of all is from Laboratório da Paisagem, the entity responsible for the implementation of the Plan, in partnership with the Municipality of Guimarães and the Applied Ecology Laboratory of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD).
The Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan involves, in addition to a strong participatory component, a technical and research component, which has already identified 12 sampling units throughout the municipality of Guimarães. The aim is to map the whole territory, involving, training and participating in order to protect, conserve and monitor the existing species.
This Plan will be important for the Ave, Selho and Vizela Ecovias projects, which are already on the ground, as well as several other projects to promote the natural heritage.
Over the next year, an analysis and diagnosis will be made, as well as public participation, education and awareness-raising actions that will give rise to technical reports and, subsequently, the drafting of the Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan.
