The role of cities in the promotion and conservation of biodiversity is now well known. The Laboratório da Paisagem has been following this path, at the same time as it has sought to increase knowledge about what surrounds us.
The Guide to the insect pollinators of Guimarães, following the example of the previous publication of the Guide to the 100 Birds of Guimarães, is another clear contribution towards this goal, as well as towards reinforcing Guimarães’ commitment to sustainable development.
Resulting from a wider research and education project, which aims to highlight the importance of the protection and conservation of pollinating insects – Poliniza-TE – this new Guide intends to be another environmental awareness-raising tool that stimulates the involvement and active participation of citizens.
In the Landscape Lab we continue to recognize the relevance of adding to the technical and scientific knowledge, the participatory component, which will have the ability to create citizens more aware of the challenges of the territory, but also more demanding in the search for solutions.
May this Guide to the pollinating insects of Guimarães be another adventure and a discovery for each of the readers. Of the territory, but also of its biodiversity.
