Guimarães strengthens the link between science and territory in the UNIMUNICÍPIOS project

On September 1, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Portugal signed, at the premises of CEiiA – Centre of Engineering and Development, a Memorandum of Understanding that formalizes the collaboration between the municipalities of Guimarães, represented by the Laboratório da Paisagem, Matosinhos, and Braga, as well as the University of Minho and the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP).

The UNIMUNICÍPIOS project aims to bring academia closer to the real needs of territories, through the development of master’s dissertations focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proposed by the partner municipalities.

Each student will be accompanied by their academic supervisor and a municipal tutor, fostering the exchange of knowledge, practical experience, and contributing to improving youth employability.

The initiative also has the support of CCDR-N (Regional Coordination and Development Commission of Northern Portugal), which will provide financial support to participating students.

By joining this project, Guimarães reaffirms its commitment to research, sustainability, and community engagement, strengthening the role of the Laboratório da Paisagem as a mediator between science and territory.
