In the year of its 9th anniversary, Eco Parlamento, the anchor activity of Guimarães’ environmental education programme, PEGADAS, coordinated by Laboratório da Paisagem, was in the spotlight at the International Congress of Educating Cities in Curitiba, Brazil.
Adelina Pinto, education councillor for Guimarães City Council and president of the Landscape Laboratory, was one of the speakers at the Congress, presenting the success of EcoParlamento, an essential tool for promoting dialogue and civic participation among young people in the context of the sustainable development goals, to the more than 120 cities present.
It should be remembered that the EcoParliament is also being implemented in a Brazilian city, Chapada dos Guimarães, under the name of the Youth Democracy Forum.
The International Congress of Educating Cities is bringing together more than 2,500 people in Curitiba between 21 and 24 May, including technicians from various cities around the world and researchers in the field of education, encouraging reflection and debate on social, environmental and economic sustainability, and education for sustainability. The Landscape Laboratory is also represented by its executive director, Carlos Ribeiro.
