Guimarães participates in the international conference WASTES 2025, in Madeira

The Municipality of Guimarães, through the Landscape Laboratory, took part in WASTES 2025 – 7th International Conference on Wastes: Solutions, Treatments and Opportunities, held on September 4 in Funchal, Madeira.

The participation was led by Carlos Ribeiro, Executive Director of the Landscape Laboratory, who spoke at the Industry Session with the presentation entitled “Research and Circularity: Towards Guimarães 2026 – European Green Capital”.

His intervention highlighted the role of Guimarães as the European Green Capital 2026, showcasing the contribution of the Landscape Laboratory in applied research and in implementing circularity strategies within the territory. The opportunities created by the integration of science, industry, and the community were also underlined as being fundamental to building a more resilient city committed to carbon neutrality.

WASTES 2025 brought together hundreds of participants from different countries, including researchers, companies, public entities, and civil society organizations, establishing itself as one of the leading international platforms for debate on waste recovery, circular economy, and industrial innovation.
