II Edition of the Urban Tree Management Training Programme

On 30 and 31 October, the Landscape Laboratory is organising the 2nd edition of the Urban Tree Management Training.

The training is aimed at technicians and operatives in the field of maintenance and management of green spaces, landscape architects, environmental engineers, forestry engineers, ecologists and anyone interested in the subject.

The training will be given by arboriculturist Viriato Oliveira (FdSc Arboriculture & Tree management), from the Landscape Laboratory’s Arboriculture Office.

Registration is open until 27 October 2024 using the following form.

Background
The urban forest is increasingly playing a decisive role in combating climate change and mitigating climatic extremes in our cities. Good management and monitoring of tree heritage is essential for the long life of trees and the safety of users of public spaces. In this second edition of Urban Tree Management Training, the Landscape Laboratory aims to provide participants with knowledge about integrating trees into the city, current legislation, plant physiology/biology, maintenance principles, risk assessment and monetary valuation of tree heritage. Trainees will be enabled to obtain an enlightening, well-founded and objective view on the importance of the tree in an urban context, and above all on the true role of the tree in the future of our cities.
