Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming various sectors of society, including education and environmental management. In the current context of climate change and environmental degradation, AI offers new opportunities to enhance environmental education, making it more effective, accessible, and personalized. This international meeting aims to explore the intersections between AI and environmental education, discussing how emerging technologies can be used to promote sustainability and environmental awareness.
The event will bring together AI experts, environmentalists, educators, researchers, and students to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices. Through lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in AI applied to environmental education, discuss ethical and practical challenges, and discover projects aimed at a more sustainable future.
OBJETIVES

Promote understanding of how AI can be integrated into pedagogical strategies to improve environmental education, making it more interactive, personalized, and accessible.

Analyze the ethical and social implications of using AI in education and environmental management, considering issues such as privacy, equitable access, and the environmental impact of technological development.
• Promote innovation in educational and environmental projects
Inspire and empower participants to implement projects that use emerging technologies to address environmental issues and educate communities about sustainability.
• Encourage collaborative networks and global partnerships
Promote the creation of collaborative networks among educators, researchers, environmentalists, and AI professionals to strengthen joint actions in support of environmental education and global sustainability.

1. Oral Communications
1.1 Paper abstract submission
• The submission of the paper abstract must be made through the following link: https://forms.gle/H8iUtGqRNVxeC87L9, in Portuguese or English.
• The abstract must not exceed 2000 characters, including spaces.
• The abstract should include reference to the topic, objectives, methodology used, and conclusions.
• Abstracts must be submitted by January 31, 2025.
• Notification of abstract approval will be sent by email by February 17, 2025.
1.2 Full paper presentation
• The submission of the full paper (in Portuguese or English) for later publication in the event proceedings must follow the template and formatting defined by the IEEC organizing committee, which will be sent after abstract acceptance.
• Full papers must be submitted by April 30; otherwise, they will not be included in the event proceedings.
Oral presentations: 10 minutes

2. Posters
2.1 Poster abstract submission
• The submission of the poster abstract must be made through the following link: https://forms.gle/H8iUtGqRNVxeC87L9, in Portuguese or English.
• Poster abstracts must be submitted by January 31, 2025.
• Notification of poster approval will be sent by email by February 17, 2025.

2.2 Posters presentations
• The content of the poster must ALWAYS include an abstract in English if the poster is designed in Portuguese.
• The poster must reference the topic, objectives, methodology used, conclusions, author’s name, institution, and email.
• Dimensions: 90 cm x 120 cm (A1).
• The poster must follow the template defined by IEEC 2025; however, the font type and design are at the author’s discretion, as long as it is legible.
• The inclusion of graphs and/or images is the sole responsibility of the author.
• Each participant must bring their printed poster and affix it in the designated areas.
• The poster must also be submitted in PowerPoint (PPT) or PDF format for later publication in the event proceedings by April 30; otherwise, it will not be included in the proceedings.

Poster presentations: 5 minutes, during time slots previously scheduled throughout the event.
Maximum number of submissions:
• Each author may submit up to 2 individual papers or up to 3 co-authored papers.
STUDENTS SPECIAL

A call is open – special for students – for the submission of abstracts relevant to the theme of the event.
After review and decision by the scientific committee, 3 scholarships, covering the registration fee, will be awarded for 3 oral presentations.

Analysis of Submissions by the Scientific Committee
The acceptance of abstracts for papers and posters will be made by the scientific committee, which will inform the respective authors about the acceptance and/or suggested changes to be made.
The analysis of the works will focus on:
• Relevance of the work to the theme of the event
• Scientific quality
• Relevance and innovation
Authors will be notified of the decision regarding their submissions via email by February 17, 2025.
CALL – SHOWCASE OF TOOLS INCORPORATING AI APPLIED TO EDUCATION
Applications until January 31, 2025
During the II International Environmental Education Conference, a showcase of AI-based products supporting Education and/or Environmental Education will be created.
Applications must be submitted by January 31, 2025, through the specific form: https://forms.gle/67feEnxP8cuS5CpUA
Applications will be reviewed by the scientific committee and the event organizing committee, and all applicants will receive a response by February 17.
Participation Guidelines:
• After approval, companies/entities must ensure their presence throughout the two days of the event (February 27 and 28).
• Setup can be done preferably on February 26, during the whole day, or on the morning of February 27, starting at 7:30 am, as the event will begin at 9:00 am.
• Event hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
• The organizing committee will provide lunch for a maximum of 2 representatives per stand.
• Participation by companies/entities does not require any payment.
• The organizing committee does not cover travel or material transport expenses.
• A 2m x 2m area will be provided in an enclosed space, with a table, chair, and electricity access.
• All space decoration is the full responsibility of the company/entity.
• Setup and breakdown must take place outside the event hours and are the responsibility of the company/entity.
• The security of the stand’s materials is the full responsibility of the company/entity.
• During event hours, the stand representatives must provide necessary clarifications to participants.
• Tools that can be experimented by participants will be prioritized.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
• The registration fees include VAT.
• The registration includes lunches on both days of the event, as well as transportation for the visit on the last day. It does not include the dinner on the 27th.

Low carbon event commitment
Aware of the commitment of the Municipality of Guimarães to achieve Climate Neutrality 2030, the Landscape Laboratory organizes the International Meeting on Environmental Education as a low carbon event.
In order to meet these objectives, the following measures were adopted:
• Vegetarian, seasonal and local menu at the event, to reduce the carbon footprint;
• Option for locally produced, handmade gifts, from post-production textile waste or from products of natural origin;
• Reduction of printing and waste production at the event and focus on reuse, recycling and recycling.
