Guimarães in Berlin for NetZeroCities Bootcamp

Laboratório da Paisagem and the Municipality of Guimarães attended the NetZeroCities Bootcamp, which took place in Berlin, Germany, on 22 and 23 January 20205.

This ‘training camp’ brought together 48 European cities, which took 26 new projects to Berlin, all with the common goal of achieving climate neutrality.

Between co-creation and sharing sessions, Guimarães, along with the municipalities of Porto and Lisbon, presented its latest project, called A+ Class. This new project aims to develop resources to monitor the progress of cities in implementing their Climate Contracts, as well as to share good practices in climate mitigation and adaptation.

Guimarães is one of the 100 European cities and three Portuguese cities that are part of Mission Cities, an initiative of the European Commission that aims to make 100 European cities, as well as 12 others in associated countries, climate neutral by 2030, with the involvement of local organisations, citizens, companies and investors, as well as national authorities. The aim is to ensure that these cities act as centres of experimentation and innovation so that all European cities can follow suit by 2050.
