Postponed by a week due to rain, the Spring Festival 2025 will take place on 29 and 30 March on Penha Mountain in Guimarães, promoted by Laboratório da Paisagem, with the support of the Municipality of Guimarães, Irmandade da Penha and the Urbact BiodiverCity network.
This year’s event has biodiversity as its central theme, promoting a diverse range of activities for all ages, with the aim of bringing the community closer to nature and raising awareness of the importance of environmental preservation.
For two days, visitors will be able to enjoy a programme full of initiatives, including concerts, creative workshops, interpretive trails, environmental education activities, exhibitions and traditional games.
On the musical front, the event will feature performances by Mário Correia, Francisco Reis, Maria João Soares and André Ferreira, as well as a lively sunset with DJ Tiago TT and a performance by the Flávia Portes Dance School. Literature will also be present, with Story Time sessions organised by the Raúl Brandão Library.
A weekend to celebrate nature
The Spring Festival, with free admission, is an event designed for the whole family, where visitors can take part in various workshops, such as building nest boxes for birds and shelters for bats, building terrariums, drawing and botanical painting activities, as well as learning traditional techniques, such as the clay workshop and the straw workshop.
The more adventurous will have the opportunity to explore Penha Mountain through interpretive trails, guided by experts who will reveal the natural and cultural wealth of the region. There will also be an eco market, themed exhibitions on biodiversity and interactive spaces with the presence of organisations dedicated to raising environmental awareness, such as the Landscape Laboratory, Vimágua, Vitrus, Resinorte, the Portuguese Red Cross and Curtir Ciência.
The Spring Festival promises a weekend full of colour, music and learning, an open invitation to all to celebrate the arrival of the season and reinforce our commitment to biodiversity and sustainability.
The event is being organised with the support of the Urbact BiodiverCity network. Created to support communities in developing nature-based solutions, this network includes nine cities from eight European countries and contributes to the implementation of the European Union’s Biodiversity Strategy.
