More than a dozen people participated in the training session on mammals, under the Guimarães Biodiversity Action Plan, which took place last Saturday in Paço de São Cipriano, in Tabuadelo.
In the first part of the session participants learned some monitoring techniques, such as placing camera traps or through indirect observation, such as looking for traces like footprints, droppings, nests, among others.
In the second part, we explored an autochthonous forest with oaks, holly, laurel and gilbert trees. During the walk, we found traces of the presence of wild boar (Sus scrofa), badgers (Meles meles) and red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris).
It was an enriching experience, where we got to know the local fauna.
