On April 7 and 8, the Laboratório da Paisagem hosted a meeting and technical visit as part of the Twinning Learning Programme of the NetZeroCities initiative, in which Guimarães is a pilot city.
This initiative brought together representatives from the Municipality of Torres Vedras and specialist Paula Bachs from the NetZeroCities team.
The Twinning Learning Programme aims to promote peer learning among European cities, fostering the exchange of experiences, best practices and strategies that accelerate the transition towards climate-neutral cities. Through this collaboration, Guimarães, as a pilot city, shares its journey and innovative solutions in sustainability, biodiversity, mobility and urban resilience, supporting other cities in developing their own strategies to achieve carbon neutrality.
Over two days, Francisco Carvalho and Susana Costa, General Coordinator for Research and Innovation and Coordinator of Operations and Project Management respectively at the Laboratório da Paisagem, led working sessions and technical visits, showcasing projects and initiatives implemented in Guimarães that are relevant to the objectives of the European Union’s “Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities” Mission. Projects and best practices with replication potential in the Municipality of Torres Vedras were also highlighted, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the adaptation of local solutions to other urban contexts.
This action reinforces Guimarães’ commitment to leadership in the ecological transition and to collaborative work among European cities, aligned with the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
