Packaging of the future in the spotlight at European Week for Waste Reduction

As part of the European Week for Waste Reduction, Laboratório da Paisagem held a round table, moderated by its communications coordinator, Pedro Cunha, to talk about the packaging of the future and invited Joana Martins from CEB – Center of Biological Engineering and Luís Nobre from Fibrenamics.

The former showed an excellent example of organic packaging, the purpose of which was to find an alternative to plastic in order to create packaging that is suitable for preserving food and whose material is biodegradable and made from food waste. Fibrenamics shared its smart card packaging, produced in partnership with José Neves, which is capable of communicating with the user, informing them if the food is in good condition for consumption, while also allowing both the consumer and the producer to monitor the quality of the product and trace it from the moment it is packaged to the moment it is sold to the public.

Attending the talk were students from the D. Afonso Henriques Professional School and Colégio do Ave.
