The project marks the start of the European Week for Waste Prevention in Guimarães. Initiatives are planned to take place during the week of 16 to 24 November.
“Food waste” is the main theme of the European Week of Waste Prevention, to be held between 16 and 24 November. The Municipality of Guimarães, in collaboration with the Landscape Laboratory and VITRUS Ambiente, will present the project “EcoBox – Food Waste Box”, to be implemented in this initial phase in the restaurants of the Bairro C area, which aims to provide free packaging that allows customers to take home their leftover food, avoiding food waste.
The project presentation will take place at a press conference, with representatives of the restaurant industry, on Monday, 18 November, at 10:30 a.m., in the covered square of the Design Institute.
The program of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) includes a set of activities aimed at raising awareness about this year’s theme. The objectives of this initiative are to increase awareness about waste reduction, product reuse, and recycling strategies of materials in the European Union and its Member States; to mobilize and encourage citizens to develop initiatives within the key themes of the Week; and to strengthen the capacity of EWWR stakeholders by providing specific communication and training tools.
