Landscape Lab in Slovenia with the BiodiverCity project

This week, the researcher in Biodiversity and Water Resources, Ana Pinheira, together with Pedro Moreira, from the Green Structure and Biodiversity Division of the Municipality of Guimarães, participated in another BiodiverCity meeting, which took place in Poljčane, Slovenia.

The visit provided an exchange of knowledge on innovative permaculture techniques and the use of apitherapy, a therapeutic alternative that uses products derived from bees, such as honey, propolis, pollen, royal jelly and wax.

In addition, possible natural engineering solutions were discussed to mitigate problems related to the instability of riverbanks, and how to promote balance between agricultural areas and biodiversity.

Cooperation between cities is essential to create ecological and innovative solutions for the challenges of our time.

In addition to the Landscape Laboratory, the BiodiverCity network includes 9 more cities from 8 different countries, including Dunaújváros (HU), Vratsa (BG), Town Veszprém (HU) Poljcane (SL), Cieza (ES), Siena (IT), Limerick City & County Council (IR) Hertogenbosch (NL) and Sarajevo (BA).
